René created thousands of illustrations and sketches covering a wide range of styles from whimsical and cute to playful with a dark edge. Her style really shines in the wide variety found in her sketches. She used a range of materials and mediums to sketch with including quill pen and ink, technical pens, pencils and ballpoint pen. She would often use spiral bound journals and fill every page with a drawings doing 5 or 6 a day. Many of her pieces were done while riding in the car with Cameron or in cafes.
